Appreciating Noh Costumes and Kyogen Play
You will learn about the different kinds of Noh costumes while listening to an explanation by Mr. Yuzo UENO, a professional Noh actor. He will perform yokyoku, a Noh song while displaying the magnificent and traditional Noh costume. One of the participants will have the privilege of putting on a Noh costume, while the others will watch and learn about kitsuke, the rules on how to put on or dress in kimono. Hidden from the audience, kitsuke has been considered by Noh actors to be the most important part of the performance behind the stage. This is a special and rare opportunity for you to see this traditional routine during a Noh play.- Noh Workshop: Tomoyoshi UENO (The Kanze school shite-kata Noh actor)
- Kyogen Play: Takashi ZENCHIKU
